Is it safe to develop for customer on a alfresco community ?

Hi,

I'd like to know if it is safe to propose to the customer an alfresco community version ?
Is stability certain ?

Personnaly, I develop with enterprise since november 2008. And the two things I bought are :

1) The enterprise edition
2) The support

The second point is clearly useless giving either the level of competence of the support or the time to explain our problem (too long until eventually we give the test case …. where in this final case, the support is useless : they will create only the JIRA issue what I can do being a alfresco enterprise customer).

The problem is around the first point : does enterprise edition more stable than community edition ?

Thanks

Hi,

It depends on your customer requirements.
If it's a big organization with Tb of data, I think it's wiser to take support.
If it's a small/medium organization with Mo of data, it's possible to take Community/Labs version.

Main difference between this 2 version are "Labs functionnality" like IMAP integration for 3.2 and Enterprise Tools for Clustering…
If you don't use this kind of features, I think you can use community.

Furthermore, it will be possible in future to migrate your community version to an Enterprise version.
