Invalid security certificate error when connecting from office for iPad

Not applicable
Hi,

I have Alfresco Community running on my NAS including the SharePoint protocol support and can access it from any desktop Microsoft Office application but when I try to "Add a Place" in any of the Microsoft Office for iPad apps I get the following error message: "Cannot Connect to Site - The site doesn't have a valid security certificate." followed by "Cannot connect to Server - The server may be unavailable. Check your internet connection and try again".

I have the following configuration
- Qnap NAS with QTS 4.1.3
- JRE 8.6.0
- Tomcat 7.0.50
- Alfresco 5.0.c with Share and SPP installed
- Tomcat, Alfresco and Share configured for SSL on 8443 using a self-signed certificate
- SPP configured for SSL on 7070
- iPad Air 2, iOS 8.2 and latest office apps

Share and SPP can be reached on the respective ports and I get the websites as expected. And as mentioned desktop MS office applications can access Alfresco via SPP. But I cannot get it to work with the iPad office apps.

Can anybody help with this, please?

Thanks
Peter

I had this problem while doing a course on Udemy by Martin Bergljung.

The question here is old but it happened to me with Office 2016 and Alfresco 5.2, so I'm posting the solution that worked for me.

In short, to solve the issue and be able to test within your computer, you require to add the certificate from Alfresco in your Mac, to do so, enter the HTTPS address you have (in my case, https://localhost:8443/share/ ), using SAFARI browser.

It will complain about the certificate validity, just agree with the warning and select the option "install" and trust for localhost. That's it, after that, the file will open straight from Alfresco into MS Office.

You can go later on to Keychain Access utility (Applications -> Utilities) and do further adjustments if you need them.
