Interact with DB in alfresco?

I have a mysqldb with 5 different fields I suppose I have to make a query using value selected from the authority(retrieve the values from database using springsmvc(alfresco api"s)). How can I get this value to make the query? Have you any example (like html.ftl file)?

Based on our IRC conversation, you want to pull metadata from an external database.

There is an add-on that does this:

It is contributed by a community developer, and Alfresco does not support it. But the entry in the add-ons directory suggests that you can get support from them if you need it.
