Installing under Windows 7 - coexist with native Windows 7 SMB service?

I'm wondering whether I can run JLANserver (this is Alfresco, isn't it?) coexisting with Windows 7 Server service. Otherwise, how would I be able to run existing Windows shares?

Yes.   It can be a pain and Windows 7 is not a supported Server (It is not a server OS at all really) but it works.   The trick is to use NETBIOS to look up to a separate share name.   In alfresco by default there will be a share name with ${hostname}A

I put together a troubleshooting guide for this topic.

Richard deserves more than a point for that.  What a super guide.
