Hi,
I have been trying to install alfresco on subumit 8.10 for a few days now but with no luck.
I installed it on windows server 2k8 and XP and it worked perfectly well. so far no problems.
I was wondering if some has been successful in installing alfresco on Ubuntu 8.10. ?? Do you have specific instructions ??

If someone does have or know of working instructions for other OSs please feel free to let me know.

Eventually i want to use alfresco with AWS (amazon web services). Has any one done this ?

Please let me know.
Thank you

Nabil

hey mike,
Thank you for your reply.
When installing Ubuntu server 8.10, i am asked for the features i want installed. (Open ssh, Tomcat, print server, Lamp server …….. ???)
If i pick tomcat as part for the initial install, it causes some port problems eventually.
It would be nice if the alfresco team provided a step by step guide starting from scratch. In other words beginning with the server itself all the way up to getting the share and alfresco to come up on the browser.
Do you happen to know of an exact server setup that leads to an easier installation ?
Let me know please.

It's not really our place to tell you how to install the Operating System! Besides being an unmanageable task in the first place, it would get out of date very quickly.

However, try installing without Ubuntu's OpenOffice and Tomcat as they may be causing problems. See this thread for example: http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16484

Thanks,
Mike
