Installation of Record Management on 5.0.a

Hi
I am not sure if this is the right forum to raise this query

In the installation guide to install 'Record Management' on Alfresco 5.0.a I am required to download file 'alfresco-rm-2.1.a-621.zip' and install the contents accordingly in folders ../amps and ../amps-share. The zip file should contain files:

alfresco-rm-2.1.a-621.amp and alfresco-rm-share-2.1.a-621.amp

However, instead the two files are alfresco-rm-2.1.0-621.amp and alfresco-rm-share-2.1.0-621.amp, which I assume are for release 5.0. Are the files contained in alfresco-rm-2.1.a-621.zip the wrong files, or is there an error in the installation documentation?

Best regards

AFAIK RM is not yet available for alfresco 5.0.  RM typically lags the release of alfresco since its on a separate development cycle.

I just checked the module.properties for that amp and there's a possibility it may work.

And what page of documentation are you referring to?

The introductory e-mail that comes after one registers for the Alfresco Community 5.0.a download has a link to Records Management (alfresco-rm-2.1.a-621.zip) but the message never mentions that the RM is incompatible with the new 5.0 release.

I found this out earlier today – that RM module does not install on Alfresco 5.0.a, instead it makes the system inaccessible. Apparently there are a couple of system parameter differences between the two products and during system initialization the RM leaves the Alfresco server in a non-working condition.

This issue also happens with Alfresco One 4.2.2 – RM does not work with either despite what the product release page says. (We verified this with Alfresco support right after 4.2.2 was released). The RM that is supplied with Alfresco 4.2.1 installs and works correctly.

This may be an issue that we could elevate to the group that's responsible for the community edition product release team.

On the other hand, I'm working on a custom mod that deploys in a couple of AMPs and that works flawlessly with 5.0.a.

Thank you for reporting the problem in the email. I got it corrected.

Just to be clear:

* RM 2.1 works with 4.2.1
* RM 2.2 (out next week) works with 4.2.0/1/2
* We don't have a community version of RM that current works with 5.0

As Mark said RM lags behind the repository release, so the download link on the community email that went out was a mistake.

Once 2.2 is out we will start evaluating the changes needed to get a working RM on 5.0 .. then we can push out an early community RM <insert next version number here>.a

Sorry for the confusion.  We'll work on getting this information clarified.

Cheers,
Roy

As of this afternoon we have the new RM 2.2.0 installed and working fine with Alfresco One 4.2.2. Thanks again for the quick response.

Hi Roy,

I just want to ask if you can tell me the progress of the new Records Management for Alfresco Community 5.0a

Can you already tell us a planned release date?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Opnek

RM 2.3.1.a works against Alfresco Community 5.0.a.

Have a look at here:

https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Community_file_list_5.0.a

Warning, I tried it and it did not work for us.  So, YMMV.  It broke our Alfresco 5.0.a install so hard that it would lockup during service start (I couldn't even kill the service).  I had to replace the share and alfresco war files manually to get the system usable again (and I'm still finding miscellaneous broken stuff that resulted).

This is odd. We never had such an issue. Is it possible to provide log files?
