Hi!

I'd like to use the community version for just a few users. I'm quite familiar with web production, but not with advanced server issues.

I'd like to install Alfresco on my web hotel server, that hosts my web site. Now, it seems that installing Alfresco requires to have direct access to the server, even being able to start/stop it. (have only found instructions for installing on Windows, and only locally …)

Is it possible to install Alfresco on my webhotel, as I would easily with Joomla! for example? (have used Joomla! but want the interconnectivity with Office products).

Hope someone can help me!

you will definitely need root access of some kind to install software, start daemons and cron jobs. Take a look at the installation guide for the software requirements, but the key will be RAM memory. You may start playing with 512 MB, but if your "few" people are actually using it, it will need more soon.

My notebook serves as dev-environment, has a Core Duo 1,8 MHz with 2 GB Ram. Running Notes, mysql, Alfresco, Eclipse, Firefox and IE, CIFS connection and the on&off word or excel is enough to start me wishing for more RAM from time to time.

I just want to know if how can we install UNIX web hotel? Can you share with us the steps or procedure we must follow before we can install it? I myself also have an experience regarding the web production that is why I assure you that you don't have to pay in installing a UNIX web hotel. Thanks so much.
