I am trying to install alfresco-community-4.2.c-installer-win-x64.exe on a clean install of Windows Server 2012. I install with administrative rights, but the install always fails when installing PostgreSQL. I had reinstalled Windows just to make sure there were no issues there, but no change…

Hi,
did you check the version of PostgreSQL you're using against the supported compatibility matrix?
Moreover I don't know if Windows Server 2012 is supported.
Where does the PostgreSQL installation fails? Can you provide a log file with the errors?
Regards,
Andrea

Hi, try to follow this threads opened about this issue https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/MNT-6309?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanel...
Especially this reported in a comment http://community.jaspersoft.com/questions/543924/cannot-install-jasper-report-server
It seems to be a permission problem…
Regards,
Andrea

Hi Huge321,
I came across this link when looking an answer to the same isue with the new Alfresco 5 release.
The simple solution I found was to create the c:\Alfesco folder and applies full rights to the Domain Admin account and the local administrator account. The run the install as Domain Administrator. Postgres installs correctly. I am not certain that the local admin account needs full rights and will rerun the install to test.
The comment from Abarisone on permissions was the key pointer.
I hope this helps others with this issue. It should be addressed by the installer script to set the correct permissions. I rate it as a major bug as it has been around in version 4.2 and still on 5.

I can confirm that this is still a problem with Alfresco 5.0.d running on Windows Server 2008 R2. cwynter's procedure does fix it, though!

Had the same exact issue. I did two things and the installation concluded successfully. Firstly I explicitly added the Domain Admin Account I was logged in with, to Alfresco folder Security with full permissions. Secondly I started the setup not using elevated privileges as I tried at first but simply double clicking the executable. Don't know which one of the two did the trick, but setup has run smoothly.

I'd experienced the same. After I explicitly added the Domain Admin Account, the installation was OK. Thank's everyone!!
