Indexing RTF format files

I want to search .rtf file. Is it supported on Unix/Solaris.
It works for pdf, doc, staroffice.

.rtf files should be indexed.

…it will if you have the OpenOffice server running (used for several Alfresco full-text transformations) - otherwise it won't be indexed.
