Importing a zip file ie a folder ; what happens next

Hi All
    I am evaluating Alfresco community edition 3.4.c 
    I have a big size folder in my local drive, I want it in my DM.
For this purpose I had ziped the folder , then imported to the SPACE
Now after some  time, I could see the "ZIP" file as ZIP file, I thought when I import, it will unzip the contents by default
Now how could I unzip it

I think that you would need to develop a new action to unzip the imported Zip archive (which could be triggered by a rule on a space).

Alternatively there's a bulk import utility - http://code.google.com/p/alfresco-bulk-filesystem-import.

Well, you can unzip a zip file on upload in Alfresco Explorer using the Import Dialog. It is accessible through the "More Actions" menu -> "Import" from any space. This is intended for acp files, but can be used for zip files as well. Very useful sometimes, indeed.

Now I have the folders unzipped in the space,But when the time I had imported the file only the zip file was showing on the SPACE. May be because of the huge size of file it took time

Lothar, i can import zip files, but they are not unzipping automatically. I dont know ho to do that automatically OR manually. Dont see any options in the import dialog. Thanks for any guidance.

Hi,

the unzipping happens during import. Please check that you use the explorer UI and second, the Import-Action Dialog and not the regular "Add Content" Dialog.
