Hello,
I have just put up a test server with Alfresco to analyze its capabilities as CMS (just yesterday so I do not have much feedback jet). It would be for a small company, just 6 employees. We would also would like to set up a wiki to put together in a repository our combined knowledge (whatever small that may be
). The question at hand is if it can be easily done with Alfresco. I'm sure it can be done but allow me to elaborate a little. Some of the people at the office are not high on technology if you know what I mean. Regular wikis seems too complicated with their requirements for specific syntax and so on. I would like to keep that power but making it easy for whoever do not want to use it.
I have done a quick install of Deki Wiki. It seems to work in a simple enough way for all to use it. However, we do not want to end up with too many separated systems. We already have a collaboration suite for email, calendar and so on.
In conclusion, does Alfresco have any sort of module or similar that can be that easy for creating a wiki? I have seen some of the presentation on the community site and I know it could be created, however I'm looking for something more in line with deploying and run time of situation.
Sorry for the long post but I thought I needed to explain myself.
By the way so far what we are looking at in terms of CMS look amazing.
Thank you for your time.

There is the WikiSpace module in the forge:
http://forge.alfresco.com/projects/wikispacemodule/
I've used it with v 2.0 Community Edition. It provides a basic wiki, but is not perfect.
There is also the integration with MediaWiki in the later versions of Alfresco, but I haven't personally tried this out or tested it.

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.
They key here is for it to be easy or it would be difficult to me to convince the rest to use it.

Hi alberto,
the WIKI.amp is quite llimited and it seems the search results display HTML code only. But you could integrate the media wiki, there is a comment here somewhere, allowing to use alfresco as content store for media wiki, thus integrating it.
The other way would be to return to the roots of WikiWiki and make words in CamelCase the "Link" words.
But honestly - the only way for windows & office users to publish / share informationen, which is simpler, than a wiki, is storing word files on CIFS drives.
One last question though - Is it really too much to explain someone (who WANTS to learn) the link syntax [[target article title]] , *, **, ***, **** for indentation and =x= ==x== ===x=== for headlines ? Even my father understood that and it took him months to learn Norton Commander back in the 90ies.
Regards, Norgan

I do agree with you.
The fact here is that I not that sure they WANT to learn. They probably think that there is no need for this kind of tools. Well, I think that the best course of action in this cases is just showing them by using. 3 of us want to try it. If they see that we work better or more easily that may join us.
Tanks a lot for your input Norgan.

Hi,
I've tried MediaWiki integration at end of february on HEAD version … withouth success.
It's still in developpement (see comments on code), but it WILL be very usefull

You can see french thread :
http://forum.alfresco-fr.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1577&p=7270
I succeded in installation with patching build.xml, I see my Mediawiki in repository, but I cannot use it

Wait alfresco development before using it
Regards,
Thomas
