IMAP Error in Outlook - duplicate UID

I have the IMAP system up and running in Labs 3.2 on a Windows server.  I have configured Outlook to access the repository via IMAP and selected two of our Sites as IMAP favorites.  After a few tries, Outlook populates itself with information about our repository, though this process seems to take forever and ultimately seems to hang.  (Outlook initially reports it will take 4 minutes to update and then the time period gets longer and longer until eventually it times out or generates an error.)  Usually, Outlook does not finish updating the IMAP feed from our Share site but reports an error that the IMAP server has generated a duplicate UID.  Interestingly, if I then check the details it is always the same UID number.  I have deleted and recreated the account in Outlook and get the same result.  Is anyone else having a problem like this and is there a solution?

Here is the information that is provided in the dialogue from Outlook:

Your server reported a UID that does not comply with the IMAP standard.  This typically indicates a server bug.  Your program may not function properly after this.

I have seen the same problem. Besides being annoying, it doesn't appear to hurt anything. It only happens on some Alfesco implementations. Someone else reported it as an issue: http://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-6841

I don't understand the actual cause, but it appears to be a single content item that is causing the trouble. After deleting it I don't get the error anymore.

At that point in time I was seeing it with 3.4 Enterprise RC 1. I am still seeing in 3.4.0.

For your information, I have exactly the same error message with Alfresco Enterprise v3.4.1. Outlook 2007 SP2 complains every now and then that

"Your server reported a UID that does not comply with the IMAP standard. This typically indicates a server bug" etc.

What is really weird is that I had used IMAP interaction with the same Alfresco server without ever seeing this error. The only change since then has been to re-install Outlook 2007. Could this explain the error message?
