Hello,

I am very excited to start testing out OWD for our organization.  The application is up and running without issues.  What I am having difficulties with is installing the HR Sample Application.

First, a little about my environment:
O/S:  Microsoft Windows 2003 32bit, fully patched
OWD version: 3.2.0.0
CMIS:  Alfresco 3.4d, I also tried 3.4e
Java:  JDK 1.6.0, also tried 1.7
Tomcat: Alfresco - v. 6;OWD v. 6

The script runs but seems to fail right here:
2012-05-29 12:56:44,340 [main] INFO  OwOpenAir [] - Starting [Alfresco 3xx Start]
2012-05-29 12:56:45,340 [main] ERROR OwOpenAir [] - Failed to ping CMIS WS : [The message has expired]@SIMPLE_CMIS{http://localhost:8080/alfresco/cmis} >> Sleeping …
2012-05-29 12:56:45,340 [main] WARN  OwOpenAir [] - Alfresco offline @ [CMIS connction to SIMPLE_CMIS{http://localhost:8080/alfresco/cmis} ]
2012-05-29 12:56:48,387 [main] INFO  OwOpenAir [] - Pinging Alfresco …
2012-05-29 12:56:48,387 [main] ERROR OwOpenAir [] - Failed to ping CMIS WS : [The message has expired]@SIMPLE_CMIS{http://localhost:8080/alfresco/cmis} >> Sleeping …

It's important to note that my installation of OWD and Alfresco is working 100% prior to running the following script.  I am using the following command:
install-owd-hr.bat -ap d:alfresco -u admin -p mypassword

I also verified that CMIS is up and running by browsing to http://localhost:8080/alfresco/cmis

I cannot seem to upload the install log into the forum but can do so via email if you are interested.

Thanks for any help or insight you may have.

Sincerely,
Ari

Hello, I would like to add that I just tried a similar set up but on a Windows XP SP3 machine.  Same result.

Hi aentin01,

I just tried to reproduce this behavior and used a fresh Windows XP SP3 (32bit) client machine, where I first installed a fresh Alfresco 3.4e (32bit) (from http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Alfresco_Community_3.4.e_Download). After I could contact Share in web browser, I ran the HR Sample Application Installer, which in my case finished successfully.

The only difference I had, is that I installed Alfresco on the C: drive instead on a 😧 drive as in your case. Furthermore I noticed a missing "/" in the application path in your call of the installer. It should be like the following:

install-owd-hr.bat -ap D:/alfresco -u admin -p mypassword

I will add a 😧 partition now and check this.

Is the "Sleeping" line you posted really the last line of the installer output? It´s normal that the "Sleeping" appears and it can take some time, as the installer is waiting until the Alfresco Tomcat has restarted and CMIS services are available again.

Hi deko,

I meant to reply in this forum but it is locked: https://forums.alfresco.com/forum/installation-upgrades-configuration-integration/alfresco-workdesk-....

I am having trouble installing the Human Resources application for Alfresco Community 5.0.d on Mac OSX. According to your instructions in that forum, renaming the tomcat folder to "tomcat" should do the trick. I did that and I still get this error:
<blockcode>Exception in thread "main" com.wewebu.ooa.OwOAIncompatibleAfrescoException: The Alfresco deployment at /opt/alfresco-5.0.d/tomcat is not compatible with this version of the Workdesk Human Resources Application installer!
   at com.wewebu.ooa.OwOpenAir.install(OwOpenAir.java:49)
   at com.wewebu.ooa.OwOpenAir.main(OwOpenAir.java:241)</blockcode>

Normal Workdesk installation works fine and I am able to login to Workdesk with admin credentials.

Is there anything else I need to do to make the HR Application work with Alfresco Community 5.0.d?

Thanks!

Okay aentin01, I just checked installation on a 😧 drive and this one was also running successfully.

I waited for the "Sleeping" line and could notice the following behavior:

On my test client it almost took 5 minutes until the script continued running jobs, because the Alfresco Tomcat needed so long to restart. I think this time is depending from the client CPU and other environmental influences.

So I guess you just have to wait some time when "Sleeping" is displayed and the installer will continue and will finish successfully.

EDIT: If the installer failed for any reason, the installer can´t restore Alfresco to the last working state and you would have to reinstall Alfresco completely.

Hello Depf,

Thank you for your prompt reply and for your efforts trying to replicate the issue.

I uninstalled Alfresco and OWD/Tomcat and started from scratch.  I installed Alfresco 3.4.e (ports 8080, 8005, 8009) and OWD 3.2.0.0 (ports 8090, 8006, 8010).  Both on seperate instances of Tomcat 6.0 on different ports. I tested prior to make sure everything was working OK and that the Alfresco service was on.

I reran the script exactly as you prescribed but with the correct user and password. Still no luck.  I am attaching a zip copy of the openair log and also of the bootstrap file.  It should give a complete picture of the install behavior.

One more thing to note:  I installed this time using the Administrator account, rather than using an account with Admin rights.  Didn't seem to help.

Maybe I am doing something incorrect?

Ari

Hello aentin01,

there is no need to uninstall OWD again. The HR sample application installer is working completely independent from OWD. You only have to reinstall Alfresco if an installer attempt failed for any reason.

I analysed the log file you attached and what makes me wondering are the entries [The message has expired] at the end of the file. This seems to be a timing problem somehow, which might be related to your local client time zone. Just to give it a try, could you set your local Windows timezone to (UTC+1) for the installation progress and try it once more please? This was the timezone I used yesterday, which was working. Of course you can set back your timezone when the installer finished.

If this suggested workaround helps and the installer finishes successfully, we have to check the webservice communication in the installer, so please give me a short feedback after you tried the suggested workaround.

Hello Depf,

I uninstalled Alfresco, reinstalled a fresh version of 3.4.e, verified that it was up and running, set my Windows 2003 server time to GMT+1 restarted the OWTomcat instance and reran the script.

Guess what?  It works like a charm! Smiley Very Happy The script ran without any errors and all of the expiration messages disappeared.   I immediately noticed something different when the script ran much slower than prior and there was a lot of I/O activity on the system.  The script successfully completed several minutes later.

I then adjusted the Web.XML file to point to the CMIS_HR path, restarted the service, and logged into OWD.  It looks very nice, to say the least  Smiley Very Happy

Thank you so much for your time and responsiveness to my technical issue.  I very much appreciated it and look forward to evaluating the system for our public health organization.

Sincerely,
Ari
