How to write to the console i.e. what task I'm at?

Hi,

how do you go about writing to the console??

I would like to log what stage I'm in during the process, i.e. when at the first task, print out currently at task 1, then when finished that task write to the console now at stage 2, stage 1 completed.

any help would be greatly appreciated
