Hi
When distributing a document i.e Word or Excel out of Alfresco, for example to a customer or supplier, I used (before Alfresco) to include the doc version in the filename (123456_Docname_Ver_A).
This makes it easy for partners not using Alfresco to directly replace an old file version with a new one.
I haven't found any functionallity in Alfresco supporting this.
Also wondering if it's possible to get a print of the filename and Alfresco version in the document in the footer?

This can be configured. You can write a simple javascript file to create a copy of the current document and name it as per your business rules. Copy the javascript file into Data Dictionary. Select the More Details action for the file you want to email out, and then select Run Action -> Execute a script -> Select your script. You sould be able to configure this as a Content rule too.

See javascript api: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/JavaScript_API

It should be possible to add water mark to Office documents through Open Office. You might have to define a custom transformation. See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Content_Transformations.
