How to force CheckOut?

Hello,

we try to Use Alfresco within our Systemdocumentation.

To this it is important to force the CheckOut, so only on Workcopies changes could be done. The "orginal" Documents should only changed by CheckIn.

Is there a way? What I have to config?

And is there a way to prefill the CheckOut destination with the User-Home-Foldername eg. \\alfresco\User Home\Mr_Ed when it is Mr. Ed or \\alfresco\User Home\Ms_Wonder when it is Ms. Wonder?

This is how it works already, no?  You can't make changes unless you check out the document. 

There is no good way to prefill the destination with User-Home, unless you want to modify java / jsp.  The relevant file here is

CheckinCheckoutBean and checkout-file.jsp

… yes, you are right, only "edit unline" Documents can be changed without CheckOut/In via Webfrontend.

To the CheckOut-Dialog there could be a good idea to have in the Version 3.0 three options:

o In the current space
o to My Home
o In the space selected:

Option two will be the newone.
