What sort of email?   What version of Alfresco.

There's already a metadata extractor for RFC822 messages.   MessageId is one of the fields it can map.

Oh hi, thanks for reply,

I use CommunityEditon 3.2. I don't know what you mean with, which sort of email?
I use Alfresco as Inbound Server an send via thunderbird mails to specific space.

I tried to run the action "Extract common meta data fields from content" but i cannot see any response.

Is this what you mean?

So you are talking abount an inbound SMTP message.

I'll have to look at the code to understand whether its possible to get at the message id.

It doesn't look like there is a Message-ID on a SMTP message so there's nothing to extract.

Hi and thanks for reply,

according to RFC-5322, the Internet Message Format, there should be an header field <message-id>.
How does the SMTP in Alfresco work? Does he filter the header fields?

thanks,

Alfresco's email handler pre-dates that standard. Smiley Sad
