I don't know weather this is the right place to ask this question..but i just wanted to know do we have any twikis or any links where i can go through how we can customize the Alfresco dashboard according to our need.
You can click on the link "Configure" (top right) to customize your Dashboard (when you are on "My Alfresco" in the menu). And choose what you want in your Dashboard.
After that you can create your self some dashlets (there are the elements in the dashboard like "Task to do"), look at some examples here : http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/How_to#Dashlet
