How to classify the template files

There are multiple template files in Repository > Data Dictionary > Node Template, while creating a document based on the template, they are displayed in a long list. I want to classify them and put them in the different folders under Data Dictionary > Note Template, however if I did so, I couldn't find even one item while creating a file from a template. Anybody please help on it? Thanks in advance!!

you can use categories or tags for classifying them.

I am afraid I didn't express myself clearly. I mean, I put much template files to Repository > Data Dictionary > Note Template, while creating a file based on a template, I will see many template files in a long list. here I hope to the classification happened, for example, I hope these template files can be classified into several folders, when I select the folder, then the related template files displayed.

I tried to create the folders in Repository > Data Dictionary > Note Template folder, and put the related template files in, but those template files won't appear while I create a file from a template.

OK I got it in that case you need to customize that content creation drop down to show folders which holds templates rather then all templates and then there will be sub-manu on selection of particular folder which will list down all the child of that particular template folder.
That will give you some direction.
