How do I install an add-on locally?

Hi All,

How do I install an add-on locally on my machine? I'm playing around with Alfresco for about a couple of days now and still I have no idea how to do it. Your immediate response is much appreciated.

there is readme or install file in the addons directory, please read it and follow the instruction, you will get an idea on how to do it
If you face problems, please post it to the forum with the logs, then other users will get a idea on how to help you.

Thank you for your immediate reply. This will definitely help but where can I find the addon directory? Is it on the C:/Alfresco?
Because i can't find it there.

You download addons to get extra functional than the default instance
"http://addons.alfresco.com/"
