How can I modify (customize) an existing workflow type?

Is there a way to customize and modify existing work flow according to my requirements? As an example can I customize “Group review And Approval” workflow type according to my requirements?

Please give a hand me on this.

What Version of Alfresco are you using?
jBPM or Activiti?
what are you trying to change exactly?

I'm using Version 4. And i want to customize a existing alfresco workflow or i need to create a new one like "Group review And Approval"
