Help with new .amp file for Media-Viewers add-on

Originally, media-viewers (a Share add-on) used a jar installation.  With the current 2.6 version they have an amp file out their but no amp-specific configuration information. I tried the basic amp management jar file to install it.  This didn't seem to change anything.

Can someone say for sure whether or not I should be using this amp file?  If so, is there configuration documentation somewhere for it?

I couldn't find a comments thread anywhere on the add-on site or github, so I'm posting this question here.  If you know where the question would be best posted, I would appreciate that info too.

Thanks,

Hi,
if it is a Share add-on you should put it under your %ALFRESCO_HOME%/amps_share and run apply_amps (.bat or .sh) from the %ALFRESCO_HOME%/bin folder.
The script performs the backup of the original war files and inform you about the operation performed.
You are usually not required to perform any additional configuration.
Moreover, starting Alfresco after the AMP installation, you should be able to see in the log on the screen info about the installed plugin.

Andrea

Thank you for the comment. I understand how to install AMP files and have already installed this one.  My question is if anyone reading this thread can tell me if I should use the amp file and what special needs it has. I am mystified as it just appeared in version 2.6 with no documentation.

I can imagine these possibilities:

* The amp file was accidentally posted and I should not use it.
* The amp file is an additional component to the original jar file.
* The amp file was intended to replace the jar file but they forgot to remove the jar file.

For the second and third instances there is no documentation explaining the AMP file's existence.

Thanks
