I was under the understanding that the latest builds of 3.3 support editing of documents on-line with google docs.  Is there something I have to configure to be able to say directly edit a word doc thru Share?

Thanks.

Good that you got it resolved. You should add this to Jira, and you can make a reference to this thread. You can also contribute to the wiki doc and add a note that users should make sure they have this setting.

OK sounds like a plan, Could someone answer one final question for me?

When a document is checked out to GoogleDocs you are given a link to open the document.  ("This document has been uploaded by you to Google Docs for editing.")  This link points to http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=mydocid

I would like to change the URL to be http://docs.google.com/a/mydomain/Doc?docid=

Any ideas where I can change this?

Matt

I too was getting all documents checked-in from Googledocs converted to PDF format irrespective of the originating application type uploaded into Alfresco Share or by using the new Create-..Google document menu item in Alfresco Share itself. Selecting  Googledocs older format setting in the "master" account also appears to resolve the issue.

However, that is only a short-term fix as inevitably Google will one day drop support for the older format. I guess there's maybe something been changed in the Google Docs API that Alfresco engineers will need to look at before that happens.

Did someone log this issue in JIRA yet?

Not as of yet, Feel free to put this up there.  Have you fully Integrated alfresco with GoogleApps or just a standard GoogleDocs account?

Hi All,

I was having the same issue, I have been able to solve it using the proposed solution to switch the new editor off (Only workaround!).

Now I am incapable to delete the documents created by GDOCS with the new editor, has anyone an idea how to get this
documents deleted?

Best Regards

Ana

Loftux or any of the Alfresco engineers,

There is no real problem with Googledocs, this is a nice feature.

However, why is it not possible to create a document in GoogleDocs and then enter that document into the share doc lib?

Besides, why is the alfresco web client missing this nice feature?

Hope to hear from you soon….

I'm not sure how this feature would work… would you expect some kind of Google Docs picker to choose the document to download? Anyway, not a use case we plan to support but sounds like a great contribution idea!

Besides, why is the alfresco web client missing this nice feature?
We're not adding any new features to the Explorer (JSF) client at this time.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

is it possible to permit GoogleDocs only on previously chosen sites or something like that? This would really be a great feature: We like the possibilities Google Docs offers but we want to make sure that users don't upload confidential documents to Google.

Has anyone had success changing the Google account name?

After trying out using my own account name I signed up for a more generic account for the purposes of Alfresco/Google Docs … Altered the account name in alfresco-global.properties and restarted … getting errors with checkout to Google docs, changed it back and all was sweat after restart of course.

Have you checked what Google account details may be uncommented in tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/subsystems/googledocs/default/googledocs.properties ?
