Google Docs cannot save to alfresco

I have an alfresco 4.2.b instance which previously worked perfectly with Google Docs.  Recently I tested google docs again and, while the document will open in Google Docs, when I click on "Save to Alfresco", the save fails with "Failed to save Google Doc to Alfresco."

I thought it might be a problem with just that instance (installed WAR files into distribution tomcat), so I installed 4.2.b from scratch into separate virtual machines using the bundled installer.  Even with this fresh install however, saving in Google Docs fails the same way.

I've since tried on other alfresco installations (4.2.b, 4.2.c) and I get the same error in all of them. 

My client machines are Linux (tested with chrome and firefox).  In case it was a problem with my client, I tested on various other linux clients (some pristine virtual machines) and on a Windows 7 machine too.  Same error.

In case it was possibly due to the google account I was using, I switched to another free account.  That failed similarly.

Has anyone else seen this? How would I debug this?  I have
tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/custom-log4j.properties

and have uncommented:

log4j.logger.org.alfresco.repo.googledocs=debug

but I still see nothing in the debug logs.

Hello,

Can we use the new amp files on the 4.2.e version? I have seen they are only available on the 4.2.f version page.

On the other hand. I'm not a developer, Which is the difference between the repo and the share version?

Yes, the AMPs will be good for both versions. The repo AMP is all the code and config for the alfresco war file and the share AMP is all the code and config for the share war file.  Both together make up the GoogleDocs extension.

I have installed bitnami Alfresco version 4.2f CE on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit server. It seems that the Google Docs integration is already installed. I can get both Google Docs Document and Presentation to save properly in Alfresco but when saving Google Spreadsheet, I get a failed to save message. When I look in Alfresco, the spreadsheet file is there but in a locked state.Is there anyone also experiencing the same problem?

Which version of the integration do you have installed.  The latest version (probably not shipped with the installer) is 2.0.7.  It should fix issue with talking to the Google Spreadsheet API (which changed after Google's Latest outage). It is available for download from https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Community_file_list_4.2.f

I used alfresco 4.2f as well as 4.2c for testing google document creating functionality. in 4.2f , as a user i can create a google document but i can't save. when i save document it said that "Permission denied" message. how i save google doc in alffresco. in 4.2c there was long error so i couldn't create google document. any one can give me a solution to my problem?  Please see my attachment.

Can you post exceptions from the log file? If there are none if you turn on logging for google docs (log4j.logger.org.alfresco.integrations.google.docs=debug) and then post the output from trying this again that would be helpful.

Thank you jottley for your response. i downloaded new version of alfresco 4.2f from https://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Community_file_list_4.2.f url. and also i changed googledocs.properties file by providing System google docs authentication credentials as well as i changed &lt;property name="permissionMap&gt; parameters in googledocs-context.xml file. now it work properly. thank you again.

I tested google word document and no issue it working fine but unfortunately give following error when i try to save Spreadsheet from google to alfresco. how i overcome this issue ?? please help.

Hi randika,
You can install Google Doc intergration. The lastest version I beleive is 2.0.7
If you use Alfresco 4.2.f. follow those step:
