freeze on trunk, branching the release

looks like we're good to go starting the release tomorrow.

please don't commit anything on trunk tonight unless you really know what you're doing and if you are available tomorrow in case we run in trouble with it.

if all goes to plan, tomorrow i'll create the release branch and then trunk is free again.  since the next release is an rc, we'll have to start syncing really carefully in jira what will be done and what impact it might have on others.

i'll notify you all here in this topic and on irc when the release is branched tomorrow.

I created the release tag/branch.  Trunk is free again.

THANKS to all involved.  This was a major release.  We've accomplished A LOT together.  Kudo's to us as a team!  😉

Let's start discussing what we should do in the next release and start nailing that down in Jira issues.  Jira freeze for 5.0.rc1 (release candidate) is planned for Oct 13, code freeze is Oct 25 and release is Nov 1st.
