Forums in Alfresco and large files?

We had an email question come in that I thought was worth putting up here for any follow-ups:

"Now I have a question: does alfresco have a user forum feature? I mean, is there a way of having users posts and discussions like in drupal and others php sites?

Is it possible to make a massive file upload? that would be great!"

We do not have a forum feature yet within Alfresco, but it is something we plan to have this year.

We have loaded large video files (~40Mb) and streamed it out without problem.  The FTP interface and CIFS can also be used - FTP is probably the most sensible choice for huge files.

any idea on what the approach to this is yet?
I am assume you will be steering away from making one monster web client.
