External User not able to join

I am working on Alfresco community edition.

I updated the outbound email configuration in the global properties file so that I am able to invite others to access the "Public" Site. External users did receive the email, but they are getting the error "the page cannot be displayed". What else do I need to do for them to be able to access the Site.

Do they need to do something on their end to be able to access the shared site?

Make sure the link in the site invitation email is pointing to your alfresco server. Replace the localhost with your alfresco server hostname.
