Hello,

When I try to manage permissions on an Alfresco folder.  IF I click 'manage permissions' I get a javascript error in IE (Chrome does ntohgin so I assum it gives me an error too but is just not showing javascript errors - I don't have Firefox installed):

Hello,

In fact this happens any time I click Manage Permissions on anything - this effectively disables Alfresco completely as we cannot ever manage permissions on anything!!  Does anyone have any ideas as to how to solve this?

Regards,

Neil

I just tried this on IE8 with Alfresco 3.4. No errors, Manage Permissions dialog appears. What version are you using? You mention "Other errors" in Chrome etc. - can you try clearing internet cache on the browser - I'm just wondering if you have some out-of-date files or similar. Our QA have not reported any issues with this dialog in a long time…

Hello,

I'm on 3.3 trying with Chrome and IE8 - I was going to upgrade to 3.4 but it seems to be in beta and there are no upgrade instructions for 3.3 to 3.4.  I tried clearing out the cache and had the same result.  Here is the error in IE8:

Webpage error details

I worked out how to get Chrome to show me errors (Developer Tools -> console) and I think I have the chrome error:

Uncaught TypeError    :Cannot call method 'set' of undefined
g    :8080/share/js/documentlibrary-actions-min.js:1
c    :8080/share/js/documentlibrary-actions-min.js:1
_successHandlerPostExec    :8080/share/js/alfresco-min.js:1
D.later.L    :8080/share/js/yui-common.js:7

I have tried accessing the context menu to the side of the item and also the manage permissions on the view for the item.

Is there anything else I can try - I could install Firefox if that would help?

Cheers,

Neil

Hello,

I installed firefox anyways and tried it got basically the same error:

Error: this.rolePickers[r[1]] is undefined
Source File: http://www.ziath2.com:8080/share/js/documentlibrary-actions-min.js
Line: 1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I'm still trying to solve this and it is very frustrating.  The latest thing I've done is to try to use the alfresco webapp to manage the space users.  When I try to load the page I get

javax.faces.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Bean: org.alfresco.web.bean.users.SpaceUsersBean, property: approveStepName

I'm close to throwing Alfresco away which is a real shame as the people in my company come from a Documentum website which was huge is resource requirements but it did at least work!

Hello,

OK, I restarted the server and this started to work - now I have a document which is not locked; I'm logged in as the site manager and I cannot upload a new version through the share application, it green for uploading but then turns orange and says 'failure' I can do so through the sharepoint interface.  If I try to select 'edit offline; it says 'this cannot be edited offline'.

I'm stumped Smiley Sad and desperate!

Regards,

Neil

It doesn't seem to happen all the time.
I tried this in 3 scenarios, using Alfresco 3.4c

Create a private site:  Manage permissions works ok.
Create a public moderated site:  Manage permissions works ok.
Create a public non-moderated site:  I get the errors described above.

In Chrome and Firefox, i didn't see the error, it just seems the the Manage Permissions link does nothing.
In IE, i do see the error.

I am receiving the same error in Share v3.4c using IE8 or Firefox 4.  I found this Jira http://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-6742 – not sure if it is really same issue, however.

The good news is that if you use the Repository browser from Share, you can navigate to the site document library and the Manage Permission action works.

Dear Friends,

You need mostly to change the permissions of the folder alf_data, this folder with it's content should be editable by the Alfresco user on linux systems.
