Hello,

Are you running the Enterprise version with a valid license (not a trial license)?

We have encoundered a scenario where the license details 'go missing' and this causes the repository to switch to read-only mode.

Hello,

Has your trial license expired? - again this causes the repository to enter read-only mode.

Since you are a partner you can get a proper license for your Alfresco software. Just contact us.

Only downloaded 1.4 yesterday, so the trial license can't have expired, can it?

Ah, probably not!

The license could of expired, if you installed v1.4 against an existing alfresco repository.  The license is linked to the repository data store.  But again, that's unlikely.
