Enable Versioning of content by Default

Hi Alfresco Team,

How to enable the versioning of document (Content) by default, When ever users upload a document in Alfresco by any means(CIFS, http://localhost/alfresco etc) versioning have to enabled to that content by default. So how can i acheive the same.

browse to the specific space you want to version all content. then create a rule that versions all content. here's how step by step:
1. browse to the particular space
2.click on "more actions" then select "manage content rules"
3. click on "create rule"
4.under select condition, select "all items" and click on "add to list" and click next
5. under select action, select "add aspect to item" and click on "set values and add"
5. under set action valuables, select versionable and click OK. proceed by clicking next
6. type should be inbound and give it a title
7. select run rule in background and you are done

every item that you upload into that space will be versionable.

Will this approach work even if it is a space created in /share?

yes it will work. under share 3.2r is what am using, go to the specific folder, under more actions, select manage aspects. then versionable. it should version all contents under that folder.

It seemed to work OK for me. The benefit is that documents (and folders) created at the top level in a share doc library now automatically have the Versionable aspect associated with them.

One doubt if i apply the rule at the root space, sub space will also reflect the change right.

my requirement is that only. Guess even the sub space will be versionable when your rule is applied to the root space.

Correct me if i am wrong.
