Doing something on a GROUP of documents

Hi,

Some of my users do the following (on our current CMS) on a daily basis:
- insert 100+ documents
- select some of them with an elaborate query
- execute an action (export) on the selected documents

What's the best way to do it in alfresco ? Given the number of documents, executing an action on each is not really an option.
If I can solve this issue, our transition to alfresco should be well assured !

Hi

There is currently no way to run an action for all the documents found by a query (from the UI). It sounds like a good idea to me!

It is possible a scheduled action may help. This runs a query according to a cron expression and then excutes an action. The query and the action are built via templates, so the action could be parameterised by the particular document found - say a property on the document; and the query by date, username etc that you can get out of the template model. So it may be enough do what you want.

Do all users do the same query? Would it be OK automated?

See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Scheduled_Actions.

Andy
