I am looking to evaluate Alfresco, and have a number of very strong Linux administrations within my organization.
Is there any reason (outside of the support aspect) that I wouldn't simply use the Alfresco Labs 3.0 version, versus a fully licensed Alfresco Enterprise 3.0 subscription? Does the Labs version contain all the same functionality as the corporate supported Enterprise version?
<disclamer> I'm not representing sales and this is not a sales forum, I'm just trying to help out in the forums. I'll undoubtedly miss something important out. :!:
Alfresco Labs contains all the features of Enterprise plus Labs only features. At the moment the big labs only features include Web Studio, Media Wiki and Sharepoint as well as various work in progress towards Labs 3D/ Enterprise 3.1.
You are right to note that big difference with Enterprise is the support, but support is quite broad and there are a number of aspects of support . Enterprise is tested, stable and comes with warranties etc which is important for some.
AFAIK there is no comprehensive PDF for the Labs version. Your best bet is the Alfresco Wiki. Use Google to search through it by adding "site:wiki.alfresco.com" to your searches.
So since the Labs version is more or less the Enterprise version, with some additional functionality on the Labs side, I should be able to follow using the Enterprise Administrator's Guide to configure and administer Alfresco Labs, yes?
Also, is the list below all the required prerequisites that need to be installed in order to completely install Alfresco Labs 3.0?
MySQL (latest version) Apache (latest version) Fedora or Red Hat Linux (latest version) Java Runtime (latest version)
