We're using Alfresco Community Edition 3.2 installed from http://process.alfresco.com/ccdl/?file=release/community/build-2039/Alfresco-Community-3.2-Linux-x86...

alfresco log shows the following when starting alfresco:
Alfresco started (Community): Current version 3.2.0 (2039) schema 2019 - Installed version 3.2.0 (2039) schema 2019

I've got Alfresco and Share installed ok, Word 2003 documents (*.doc) upload OK into the Share Document Library but when trying to upload Word 2007 documents (*.docx) i get the following error in the alfresco.log file and the upload screen shows that the upload failed.

Same problem here, also for any .doc file. Clueless about how to fix it so far.

Are there any other errors on startup? Is OpenOffice installed and working on the server?

Thanks,
Mike

I had a similar issue….The problem was i was running OpenOffice 2.x.  As a result, when Share tried to convert the document with OOO on the upload (i believe to make the thumbnail).  It failed since OOO 2.x chokes when you try to open DOCX formats.

This was fixed by upgrading to OOO 3.2

Are you facing issues in all uploads on only on MS Office 2007 files?
What browser you are using? Just in case - upgrade your Adobe Flash Player also and remove your browser cache and then try uploading - it helped me for some other format of files, though not for 2007 files.

Hope this is helpful!

Thank you

I have the same issue with microsoft office 2007 documents alone.
The client uses big excel files, which hangs Alfresco completely, no error in the logs as well,
so we had to completely disable indexing for all microsoft office 2007 documents, I know which is
kind of weired, by the way, it was on Alfresco 3.0d community edition.

I had a similar experience with Alfresco 3.2 and OpenOffice 3.2 on Lucid.

The only way I could fix it was to get the latest release candidate debs from openoffice (3.2.1).

This worked a treat and I can now upload Office 2007 documents.
