Document Version Storage

Hello all,

I'm an Alfresco newbie and I would like to know how it stores different document versions.
I would like to know if, after a change, the entire document is stored or only the differences with the previous version.
I work in an environment where many documents needs to be stored and versioned.. and some of my co-workers could edit those documents directly in the Alfresco's shared folder, and many of them are "CTRL+s" maniacs.. Smiley Happy

So, if each time the entire copy of the document is stored, the space occupation could be a problem..
In such case, is possible to physically delete an old version of a document?

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

The entire document is stored.    You need to stop those ctrl-s maniacs.    Set the permissions for alfresco and your backup software only.  Everyone else is denied access.

Old versions are deleted when you no longer need them,   You must not do that at the file content store level, in fact you should not have permissions to do so.

Thank you for the reply.
I'm sorry but I didn't understand your sentence "Old versions are deleted when you no longer need them".. how do I decide when I don't need them anymore? is there a way to configure that?
