display metada in new page

Hi

I am trying to generate some reports.. can anyone suggest me which is the best method to do that.

For this I was thinking of creating a custom page and give some selection options on that page and then depending on that display the data on that same page. i have successfully added a new page in alfresco share but now the question is how to get the meta-data documents of a particular content type and display it as a table along with the date when the document was created in alfresco.

if anyone having any idea plz reply…!!

To do this, you'll write a repo tier web script to return the data you need as JSON. Then, you'll write a Share tier web script that either invokes the repository tier web script from within its controller and then forwards that data to the view, or produces HTML markup that includes client-side JavaScript that invokes the repository tier web script via the Share proxy.

Although this is a dashlet that displays metadata from the latest document added to a folder, hopefully you can see how you'd tweak the repository tier controller to search on whatever criteria you need and return whatever JSON makes sense for your particular case.
