We have different portals like one for Extranet another for Documents and downloading documents and code etc. We are planning to manage these web portals by Alfresco.
Can we put all the different portals  under one Alfresco repository or need different Alfresco repositories and instances in a clustered kind of environment.

Hi,
for the easy part : if Layout, server url and userbase can be the "same", use one system and set the corresponding rights. Users will only see, what they are allowed to see.

Not good enough ? You can change views and dashlets depending on spaces & users as well, so you could even distinguish every group by adding grouplayouts and stuff.

To keep different "Websites", you would need Alfresco with the WCM extension and deploy your content to different target sites.

But keep in mind : Alfresco alone is a DMS, with the WCM extension, it can provide WCMS functions  as well (and with a pretty neat preview concept, I think). But neither is a portal ! You should think about Liveray or similar for a frontend to change that - or wait for 3.0 Smiley Happy
