Difference between '#{..}' and '${..}' expressions

In the user guide there are examples using expressions in the format "#{expression}" or "${expression}". What is the difference?

When it comes to activiti, there is no difference between $ and #, you can use them both. In (J)UEL, the difference (if I remember correctly) is that # can resolve to a value that can be bound to (with setter and getter), while $ is always a read-only expression.

There isn't really a difference. I prefer ${}, but that's just taste
