Data Storage Location

Hi,

Initially I had setup Alfresco to use a local area of disk as the data storage. I now wish to move this onto a mapped drive. I have chnaged the line 'dir.root= ……' in the alfresco.global.properties file. Alfresco will not now start up and fails. To test I have copied all the files from the local alf_data directory into the new shared area, but that also makes no difference. Are there more steps I need to complete, or can this not be done in this way.

Alfresco is running on a SLES11 64bit VM, on an ESXi4 server.

It should and does work.

Do you have any error messages on your alfresco.log file?

did you copy old alf_data to new location?

instruction for moving repository to new server:
create new database and load it with data from old database.

create directory for new repository.

change setting into alfresco so point out to new location

move old data to new location.

if database load or moving data to new location is missed alfresco wont work.

Hi, thanks for your help guys. As this was only a demo install, i reinstalled and created a new database and the data directory on the shared storage. All now works fine. Thanks again.
