customize alfresco to our proj requirements

hi..
i m new to alfresco.
We need to evaluate alfresco for our proj.scenario is we need to store the project documents.
so i wanted to know how to create UI by jsp and also control it by a java methods.I want to use eclipse galileo.
i tried sdk it worked but couldnot understand what to do further.
so please help me with a detailed procedure to customize alfresco by eclipse.

You can either customise Alfresco Explorer which is a JSP/JSF based user interface.   Or you can customise Alfresco Share.    I suggest you refer to the developer's wiki in the first instance or one of the books on Alfresco.    There are also other user interfaces that you may like to start with.

Or you can roll your own user interface with a technology of your choice, it sounds like that's what you may be thinking of.    In which case you will want to intergrate your user interface code with one of the remote APIs for Alfresco.

Thanks for the reply.
Ya i was looking for same.I ll look into alfresco developer guide on wiki.
i searched for books but no where i got to know how actually to work with java to customize alfresco using eclipse galileo.
But i don have much time so please can you guide me with detailed steps to import alfresco into my eclipse environment and start the project.

i just could instal subclipse.
but in the next step ie.,
click : File > New > Project > SVN > Checkout Projects from SVN
i m getting error like folder doesnot exist remotely..
why what is wrong :cry: ..?
I m newbie.please bear with me.
