Guys,
Can you tell me, whether Alfresco would allow me to manage simple database? What I need is a simple front end to manage records in database with ability to display them.
For example, I'd like to have a log of enquiries, and I want certain users to be able to create a log items by filling a form. Then these users could list all items in a log, view details etc. Some permissions would need to be added, for example, a created item can only be edited later by supervisor.

thanks in advance,
Radek

Of the top of my head this does not sound like Alfresco.

Bits of Alfresco may be useful,  but it would take some fairly heavy engineering to re-purpose Alfresco for your requirement.

This sounds similar to the Alfresco calendar implementation. Creating an event is filling in an event form which is saved as xml in the spaces. The Calenday Widget just pulls through and renders the xml events based on specific criteria. e.g. like events in this month.

However, I agree with mrogers. Alfresco would be an overkill for what you want. Unless of course you want to attach documents with your logs and use workflow. Then it would be similar to the Expense tracking application https://network.alfresco.com/extranet/?f=default&o=workspace://SpacesStore/6ac0abb4-5cc4-11dd-932c-0....
