Creating content types

I've been trying for over a week now to create user defined content types and having no success.

I have used the following guidlines

I just cannot seem to get the application to recognise it. I have even tried to use the example models, simply renaming them from .sample to .xml, and still no see.

Is there something obvious I am missing that is not in these tutorials? What I am trying to do is see how Alfresco compares with the Sharepoint document libraries where you can create user defined forms quite easily, to store meta data on the document.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

For the example files I have rename examplemodel.xml.sample to examplemodel.xml
renamed example-model-context.xml.sample to example-model-context.xml

restarted tomcat

I think that you have to configure Alfresco Share and Alfresco Explorer to show all the new types, properties and aspect inside the UI dashlets:
