Hello,

does Alfresco support using predefinied MS Word documents using the document type definition, so that metadata can be automatically extracted and user have to fill in all the relevant information in a document?

Can you explain more about "predefined ms word documents using document type definition," perhaps provide an example?

You can extract metadata from a ms word document.  Take a look at the following wiki page:

From the page:

" One of the default actions that can be triggered in a space is Extract Common Metadata. This action will look at the mimetype of the document that triggered the rule and request an appropriate MetadataExtracter from the default MetadataExtracterRegistry. Each extractor is registered to handle a set of mimetypes. "

I mean a template for e.g. an invoice, which employees can use and fill in the neccessary information in a structured way. The way to create such templates is the DTD , an XML standard for defining structured documents. When the user uploads the document to alfresco, the DTD elements are automatically extracted.. thats what i meant
