Create content with externally assigned UUID

Is it possible (if yes, how?) to create content and assign UUID to it specified by the client (externally)?

In order to make the custom-uuid property conform to "ID" semantics a uniqueness constraint should be imposed on the custom property.

How can a custom property values be forced to be unique in Alfresco 2.1?
