Content Transformer when Viewing

Is it possible for content to pass through a transformer before it is downloaded or previewed?

I am trying to find an easy way to place a watermark on documents that the user will only see when viewing the document. I do not want to watermark upon document upload as I want to keep the original document intact when stored in the repository.

That's essentially a watermarked thumbnail or preview.    What you do is generate a different rendition of your source doc that you then give to your users.
