Content Migration to Alfresco

Hi all,

I would like to know the different ways to migrate content and data either from a different ECM system or from a file server to Alfresco.
Specifically, i'd like to know whether is possible or not, for a migration with a huge volume of content, to just create the objects with the corresponding metadata without importing the content, but just saving the paths for the different contents  to the actual storage management system.
