consistent problem on shutdown

I am running the enterprise trial version of Alfresco (with Tomcat). Works fine, except when I try to shut down the server. Only a few times has the server ever fully shut down to where the Tomcat Java window actually closes on its own.

About 50% of the time I get something like this when I run alf_stop.bat:
Nov 6, 2007 1:46:59 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol pause
INFO: Pausing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080
Nov 6, 2007 1:47:00 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardService stop
INFO: Stopping service Catalina
Nov 6, 2007 1:47:05 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol destroy
INFO: Stopping Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080
Exception in thread "HSQLDB Timer @825cf3" java.lang.NullPointerException
        at org.hsqldb.lib.HsqlTimer.nextTask(Unknown Source)
        at org.hsqldb.lib.HsqlTimer$TaskRunner.run(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)
… and then it just sits there for hours, never actually shutting down.

The other 50% of the time I would get something like this:
Nov 6, 2007 1:46:59 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol pause
INFO: Pausing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080
Nov 6, 2007 1:47:00 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardService stop
INFO: Stopping service Catalina
Nov 6, 2007 1:47:05 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol destroy
INFO: Stopping Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080
… and then it just sits there for hours, never actually shutting down.

This is an out-of-the-box configuration- I really haven't done any tweaking. But it's done this from day 1. What gives? I'm running it on a WinXP Pro (SP2) system.

Help is appreciated… I don't want to have to keep killing the process in task manager each time I want to restart the server! Thanks.

We've got the same problem…

And this is very annoying, because we automatically want to shut down alfresco every night to take a backup and start it again.

But if alfresco doesn't stop fully, this will be a problem.

Any response, examination from alfresco member would be appreciated

Friendly regards,

Nick

Xerox- is it the same exception error, or just the same result?
