Hi All
I am following the article written by Jeff Potts on Alfresco Developer Series:-Working with cusotm content types 2'nd edition
Excellent article, I read and was able to understand, got a better idea of Content Type,Aspects and the configurations files  to work on
The journey was smooth till page 23.
At page 23 I got stuck
ie in the topics "configuring the form service for a custom type" and. I did not able to understand
Suppose whitepapers need to have the same metadata displayed as instances of cm:content. To do that, copy the entire config element and all of its children into share-config-custom.xml as a sibling of the Document Library config element you added to that file earlier. Then, change the condition from “cm:content” to “sc:whitepaper”.

I am  confused in this part "sibling of the Document Library config element you added to that file earlier .Which file is mentioned here
Guidance and advice requested
Thanks
Joseph John

What Jeff means in that sentence, is that the share-config-custom.xml file is an addition to the existing Document Library config file. The share-config-custom.xml file gets loaded in the startup of Share as another config file. So that file is used to write extensions to the out-of-the-box Share configs.

Thanks Adel
But still I am confused over here, normally in the previous section the edited xml file is shown, which helps the reader(newcomer) to grasp what is happening, my self has benefited from such modified final XML code display. Here I cannot follow the order on  what modification I am doing in "share-config-custom.xml", Is there any final ""share-config-custom.xml" which I can refer and understand the order
Thanks

Can you post the link to that file so I have a clearer idea of it?

Jeff may reply to this post, he's always around

Hi
I realized where I had gone wrong, did the basics, edited the "share-confgi-custom.xml", restarted the tomcat, did not find any error in tomcat logs
I would like to cross check whether I have not done any error in my "share-confgi-custom.xml"
I have posted the file at location
"http://www.oss101.com/dm/share-config-custom.xml"

I would like to request comment on my "share-confgi-custom.xml"
Thanks
Joseph John

Hi Joseph,

Couple of comments

——————-
Name, title and description are already Alfresco's content model properties, unless you created your own ones for the "ag" content model the properties in the xml should look like:

cm:name
cm:title
cm:description
——————

Same of above with modifier and modified

——————

And same with taggable and categories (they are existing aspects/properties in alfresco, you don't need to redefine them

Hope this helps
