CmisSync and Alfresco Desktop Sync share the same goal: Sync Alfresco to your desktop.
So, what are the differences?
We investigated the details, and created this side-by-side comparison:

Comparison between CmisSync and Alfresco Desktop Sync

Feedback welcome!
If you want us to compare on other aspects, please let us know 🙂
We are aware that the table looks a bit harsh for Alfresco Desktop Sync at the moment, probably because Alfresco Desktop Sync has not been updated for a while, and because we are more familiar with CmisSync (we make it!)… anyway if we made any mistake don't hesitate to let us know, thanks in advance!

Cheers!
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas, of what I've seen and tested so far, CmisSync looks like a pretty good solution. Wondering why Alfresco and your company don't sell it as an OEM solution, similar to the other Alfresco AddOns like MailIntegration etc. are being distributed.
I am also interested in when the official Alfresco Sync will be available, and whether it will be open source or closed source (like the revamped Activiti Engine).
Regards,
Mathias

Hallo Mathias,

We actually do sell CmisSync as OEM, providing at the same time related goodies like the CmisSync context menu in Windows Explorer and an optional administration server to ensure smooth enterprise-wide deployment (<a href="http://cmissync.com/get/">see Zero-configuration</a>).

Whitelabel is also possible. For instance, if you sell an Alfresco-based product called SorbaECM then you could distribute CmisSync as "SorbaSYNC" with the name/logo of your choice.

Typically your company would provide first-level support (users questions) and we would provide second-level support (giving configuration/performance advice, fixing any bug). Please contact us at CmisSync@aegif.jp for further details 🙂

Happy syncing!
Nicolas
