collaboration site in space template?

i was wondering whether it is possible to create a custom space template such as Software Enginnering Project but also include in it a collaboration site. any ideas?

Or if u can define a "space template" in document library so that u can create templates for sites maybe.

Sites are basically spaces (Company Home/Sites/<name>….) so there shouldn't be any difference between doing that to any other space and to a site. If what you want is to apply that template as soon as the site gets created, you will need to write custom code for that.
