CMIS Client inside Alfresco

Hi, I'm looking at putting together something that reuses the Alfresco interface points (IMAP/CIFS/Web UI, etc) while actually connecting to a 3rd Party CMIS repository.  So essentially using Alfresco as a feature rich CMIS client interface.  I know all the client libraries are available, but is extending Alfresco core functionality in this way feasible or is it a big project?

I think you are making an assumption that IMAP, CIFS, and the web client sit on top of CMIS which isn't the case. Most of the Alfresco services pre-date CMIS by several years. So you're talking about a significant undertaking.

Thanks for the response.  I hadn't assumed that, which was actually what drove my question.  That significant undertaking was exactly what I wanted to get a handle on   So you've answered my question.
